Before we charge forward in declaring bold dreams and goals then charting a course to get there, let's get a clear idea of where you are now and what areas you want to improve and maybe some some that you need to. This is crucially important step for two reasons:
Recognize Life Imbalance We often see people who have become successful in one area of life, but are utter disasters in many other areas. Why? Their focus on succeeding in one area of life created a great imbalance with the other areas. Build a Life Plan First Before you build your business plan, build your life plan. Figure out what kind of life you want to have first -- where you want to live, what type of people you want to surround yourself with. Do you want to travel? What type of environment do you want to go to eachday? Ask yourself these types of questions. Then build your business and professional plan around what is most important to you. Make your business plan fit your life plan, not the other way around! Action Item: Balance Wheel - Print out the Balance Wheel (or simply draw your own), mark a dot where you feel you are right now, today, in each area of your life. (Feel free to add as many areas as you wish - physical, financial, business, lifestyle, mental spiritual, family, relationship, etc.) 0 being not satisfied at all - 10 completely satisfied. Then connect the dots. How is your life rolling? Probably not as smoothly as you would wish! We all have a few "bumpy" areas! |
