It was really a true Miracle that I survived, unscathed, a subarachnoid hemorrhage - bleeding in my brain (50% of people who have one die, 90% of those who survive have brain damage). I am so thankful that my husband, Ed, was there and he has provided a lot of the details of how things happened. He quickly made some calls to the people in our MonaVie business and thousands of people began praying for a Miracle!
The Miracle actually began when I didn’t have the pain while stuck in traffic and that there were several Doctors in the meeting who immediately diagnosed a problem, and called an ambulance. We were 5 minutes a way from one of the top trauma hospitals in the country, Christiana Care Hospital, Wilmington, DE with a specialist on staff (an Interventional NeuroRadiologist) - (sidebar - at that time there was not one within 100's of miles of Naples.)
The Doctors discovered my bleeding was not caused by an aneurysm ( a "bubble" in the vein that bursts) I had a vein that was bleeding out with no way to stop it. The NeuroSurgeon was ready to install a shunt in my head to relieve the pressure, when the NeuroRadiologist took one last look and then confirmed a Miracle because the bleeding had stopped! I do believe in the power of faith and prayer!
I am so thankful to Ed, the Doctors and hospital staff, my friends, family, and the many people who prayed for me. I spent a week in a drug-induced "coma" as the fluid drained from my brain. Then another week in the hospital recovering. MonaVie sent the corporate jet to fly me home safely to continue my recovery with my family… And now here I am today, alive and well with a desire to share a message of hope and encouragement with you in my book.
I hope you will order it and begin your journey...
I received my second chance to truly live my dream life in April 2009.
I was on a business trip up in the Northeast for several days. My husband, Ed happened to be with me, we rarely traveled together. We unfortunately ran into heavy traffic heading down to Delaware from New Jersey and we were running late (extremely stressful) for a very important lunch meeting. I rushed into the meeting, said my hello's, began the presentation when a shot of pain, that almost knocked me over, shot across my forehead. I must have looked like I was in pain because Ed asked me what was wrong... I asked him to take over, I just needed to sit for a minute. (Sidebar- IF I would have been at home, I would have probably taken a couple of ibuprofen, laid down to close my eyes - never to wake up!)
Thank God, I was in a room with several Doctors! They rushed to my side, as one called an ambulance, I shared that I do not get migraines or headaches, I could not touch my chin to my chest and I described the terrible pain that was now on the top of my head. The last things I remember, was several of my friends by my side praying for me, I prayed that I was in God's hands and His Will be done, I trust Him completely. I remember throwing up in the ambulance and then nothing more until I woke up a week later.
About God - yes, I am a believer. Yes, I do include God in my book. And, YES, I do encourage you to continue on your own personal spiritual journey with God, as you know Him. Please know I do not intend to "push" my own beliefs on you or do I wish to offend you in any way. I hope that you will know that I have written my book in love, only by the Grace and guidance of God, I trust that you will read it believing that it is in your hands by divine appointment.
My book is a message of Faith, Love, Peace, Hope, Joy, Prosperity & Abundance -- and these gifts cannot occupy the same space with fear. I remember, just a few years ago, when I really began reading and studying the Bible, I was amazed at how often God reminds us to be strong and courageous and trust in Him. I think He does this because He knows we will all go through difficult times, times of doubt, challenges, and discouragement. So, if we have faith and truly believe, then take ACTION, everything will be OK.
It took a near death experience for me to begin to understand that we are all on this earth for a specific purpose. I believe that our dreams, passions, gifts, skills and desires are our guide to discover our purpose. I hope you will enjoy taking a 365 day journey with me to begin to live the life of your dreams!
Everybody has a story. Mine is one of birth, being born again, then given a second chance at truly living my dream life.
I was born and raised in a very small town in Indiana, the eldest of four girls. My parents did the best they could to give us roots and wings; I know there certainly was not a lot of loot for things! I spent most of my childhood on my grandparent’s farm, not much to do (outside of gardening & chores) so I spent many hours reading and day-dreaming of the day I would be free to explore and travel the world!!!
My family wasn’t much on encouraging a dreamer. Reality was I needed to study and get good grades so I could get a job to work hard to pay the bills, etc. But I always had this feeling and desire to accomplish something really great with my life. I didn’t know exactly what it was that I was going to do, as a matter of fact, I was envious of people who seemed to “just know” that they wanted to be a doctor, lawyer, accountant, etc. Looking back, I can now see that God was guiding me towards His plan for me all along.
