Enlarge Your Vision

Have you limited yourself by thinking too small, condemning yourself to a life less than your dreams? It's time to set your sights higher!

We have to conceive it on the inside before we're ever going to receive it on the outside. Thin BIGGER than you ever dared to before!

With your creative juices flowing, let's have some fun. Your dream life can begin today, and it is about being, doing, and having what you want. Your dream is very unique to you.

Think about all the areas important to you and dream BIG. How is your physical health? How will you look & feel, what is your ideal weight? Where will you live and what type of house? What kind of car will you drive? What trips will you take, and who will you meet along the way?

Action: Keep Your Dreams in Front of YOU!

Create a Vision/Dream Board. You can make it as simple or elaborate as you like. This is a great family activity, a perfect way to share your dreams with the ones you love and you get to hear the dreams placed in their hearts!

Gather supplies -- poster board, photos, stickers, scissors, glue, magazines, etc. Cut out pictures of the images you want to create for your life, and then put them on the board. Write down your thoughts and even put dates for short-term dreams and long-term dreams!

Just Say No

To create balance in your life, and live the life of your dreams, you must have the COURAGE to say NO to things not in line with your values, purpose, goals & dreams & PRIORITIES! Success & Balance is not what you DO (it is super easy to say “yes”) as It is what you Don’t Do! This week stop and think before you say “yes”. Keep in mind every time you say “yes” to something, you are saying “no” to something else...

Saying yes is EASY - takes no courage... “Can you spare 5 min, take this call, have a quick meeting, go to happy hour, have dessert, help me with this...” yes, yes, yes and your day is gone!!! YOU are now a person with BIG DREAMS & GOALS - it’s OK to be selfish when it comes to your time - it is your most valuable commodity!

ACTION:

1. Look at last week’s calendar/schedule - what should you have said NO to?

2. Look at this weeks calendar/schedule - what should you say NO to?

3. Look at your To Do list, your list of goals, ideas, desires, activities, etc. What can you cut out or say NO to?

4. What are your Vital Signs? -- What sustains life in your life -- health, business, relationships, emotional well-being, finances, spiritual journey, etc. (list no more than 3 items for each area of your life - ex. health = eat wisely, exercise)

 5. What are your Vital Functions? Any endeavor only has about 6 vital fundamental functions: ex. baseball (pitcher, batter, fielder) parenting (love, education, structure, encouragement) etc.

6. BE excellent at a few things you need to do. How much time do you devote to the most important activities?

Shoot For The Moon

When you “shoot for the moon”, if you miss, you are still a thousand times higher than the tallest mountain on earth! Take a look at your goals & dreams. They should make you feel excited & scared at the same time. When you share your dreams with your friends & family, they should say “Wow - that is a Big Dream!” - If they say, “Yeah, of course you can do that.” then you are not thinking Big enough! “Shooting for the Moon” - Is the process of defining dreams and setting goals that are extraordinary to impossible for a person to achieve on their own.

Think about this... Do dogs like bones? Not really, dogs would prefer steak, but they settle for the bones! Most people go through life just accepting the bones that are tossed their way. Whether it’s in their marriage, their relationships, in their business or career, they simply take the bones, and choose to miss out on the steak!

Now consider Babe Ruth - Major League Home Run Legend. He struck out more times at bat than he got a hit. But he had a secret for hitting HOME RUNS - he would always “swing for the fence”! Yes, he struck out - a lot - but he also learned how to add POWER to his swing and distance to his hits like no one before him and no one after him ever has. He stepped up to the plate, believing he would hit a home run! That was his POWER!

Why do most people settle for bones, walks or singles in nearly every area of their lives, instead of striving to hit grand slam home runs?

*We don’t realize we are capable of hitting home runs.

*We don’t know how to hit home runs.

*We have been programmed to believe that it is less risky and a lot safer to take an ”easier” swing and settle for a hit.

*We don’t have enough POWER in our swing to get the ball over the fence.

Dream BIGGER than you can possibly achieve! “Shoot for the Moon” Why settle for good when you can go for great? Expect extraordinary results!

Here's an example of revising a Dream & “Shooting for the Moon” - This will take you from your current reality to how far you can go!

Let’s look at the dream of “Getting in Shape” as a good example of how shooting for the moon can be applied to our personal dreams.

*Better - get fit and healthy and have more energy.

*Even Better - reach my ideal weight, maintain excellent health & fitness and create higher energy levels.

*Shoot for the Moon - Create my ideal healthy living lifestyle that will allow me to live a happier, healthier & more prosperous life!

Impossible Dream - Prepare & Eat nutritional meals daily. Exercise daily. Sleep 7-8 hours. Drink 64+ ounces of water every day.

Dream - lose weight, get fit, be healthier, have more energy

Achievable goal - exercise 3 times a week for 30 minutes, eat more salads, go to bed earlier, wake up earlier

Current Reality - no time to exercise, feel guilty when I eat out frequently, no energy, stressed out, lack of sleep

YOU CAN DO IT! Think & dream BIGGER than you ever imagined! You will be amazed at what you can accomplish!

What do you do if you don't know what you want to do? What if you don't know what your dream is? This is a common problem, and many people wander through much of their lives without discovering their passions and go from job to job, unfulfilled and miserable.

Some of us were raised in a home where dreams were encouraged. Others of us were raised with the "Get Real"  motto - go to school and get good grades so you can get a job to pay the bills to raise your family, and work until you die...

Fortunately, we don't have to buy into that reality. Thankfully, we have books, teachers, and friends who can inspire us to be an avid dreamer! Dreams of traveling the globe, making a difference in the world, and yes, even being rich and famous!

Please be encouraged to relax an have fun -- literally start dreaming. Anything is possible in your dreams. You become what you think about, so then, thinking is creating. Imagine! Reality if for those who lack imagination.

If time and money were not issues, and you knew you could not fail, what would you do? Clear your mind and be creative.

Action: Take a few minutes to use your imagination & be creative!

1. Make a list of ten things you would do for free -- to discover your passions.

2. Make a list of ten things you are good at -- to discover your talents.

3. Make a list of ten things you would like to do now.

4. Make a list of ten things you would like to do someday.

Be Do Have

Be - Do - Have

Most people believe if they "have" a thing (more time, money, love), then they can finally "do" a thing (write a book, take up a hobby, go on vacation, buy a home, start a relationship), which will allow them to "be" a thing (happy, peaceful, content, successful or in love).

However, you must first "be" the thing you want, be "happy",  then you start "doing" things from this place of "beingness" -- and soon you discover that what you are doing winds up bringing you the things you've always wanted to "have."

Tips to Creating Life Balance

3/3/2015

Comments

We want it all... Family. Health. Happiness. Business. Friends. And a Financially Secure Future. Achieving “balance” has become a goal of almost mythical proportions. Can we ever really be in “balance”?

What does it mean to live a balanced life? If you do create balance in all areas of life will you truly live a healthier, happier, more prosperous and meaningful life? I believe most of us are pursuing a life that is whole and complete; a sense of harmony and peace. This is essential to maintaing a specific quality of life and in our work.

Our lives are made up of many vital areas including our health, family, work, finances, spirituality, social, recreation, personal growth, intellect, romance and more. You may not spend time daily in all these areas, but when sufficient attention is spent over time you feel in balance. However, neglect one area - not to mention 2 or 3 - you sabotage your own success.

This may be a time in your life when you feel over-worked, over-scheduled and over-whelmed. You feel as if you are doing more than ever - yet you are also dissatisfied with the results you get out of life. I  I recommend that you resolve, right here, right now to make your life better, more rewarding, and more balanced.

What are you attempting to balance? The secret of the super achievers is that they have very specific, clearly defined goals for every area of their life. They have the ability to focus and to say NO to any activity that will not take them closer to those goals!

Determine where you are now. Define what a balanced life means to you - today. Life is constantly changing. When you are busy and all of your energy is focused on a special project, it’s all too easy to find yourself “off balance”, and not paying attention to important areas of your life.

This is the time to take a “helicopter view” of your life. Take the time to consider each area of your life and identify the areas that need more attention. Cut out unnecessary tasks and protect your priorities. What are your vital signs?

Determine what sustains life in your life. Stay focused on the vital few functions and vital few priorities that allow you to achieve excellence in the areas most important to you.

Choose wisely how you obligate your time, energy and focus. Be creative not reactive! A balanced life isn’t something that just happens, it’s something you create. Plan your daily activities to launch you toward achieving your goals.

Understand that you are not a superhero! Don’t expect to work on all areas of your life every day or even every week. If you are satisfied with an area of your life, maintain that and focus more of your efforts on where you feel you are “off”. Throw in rewards and celebrate successes along the way.
