Are you living the life of your dreams? If you are not currently living your dream life, you may have a little nagging feeling that something is missing from your life or perhaps you have the desire to be a part of something bigger than yourself. Have you ever thought about how wonderful it would be to do what you love to do instead of just dreaming about it?
What do you love to do most? You need to believe that you were created to achieve something remarkable with your life. Following your dreams will draw you toward the kind of life you were born to love. Everybody has a dream and it is never too late to pursue it. Your dream is somewhere, waiting for you... and if you don’t go for it, something important won’t happen. And when we do pursue our dreams, we may create an opportunity to inspire others to fulfill their dreams too. Take a look at the happiest, most successful people on the planet, they are all doing something they love, creating something they believe in , and living a life of purpose and passion. Do that, and it doesn’t matter how much money you make. They are using their dreams to make contributions to the world. What special talents, skills, and gifts do you have to share with the world? If you spend time thinking about your dreams and passions in life, you are taking the first step toward making them a reality. Take time to be quiet... This is something we don’t do enough in this busy world of ours. We rush, rush, rush and we are constantly listening to noise all around us. The human heart was meant for times of quiet, to peer deep within. Schedule some quiet “dream time” this week. No other people. No cell phone. No computer. Just you, a pad, a pen and your thoughts. But what do you do if you don’t know what you want to do? What if you don’t know what your dream is? This is a common problem, and many people wander through much of their lives without discovering their passions and go from job to job, unfulfilled and miserable. Some of us were not raised in a home where dreams were encouraged. Get real was the motto -- go to school and get good grades so you can get a good enough job to pay the bills, get married, raise a family, and work until you die. Reality is for those who lack imagination! Fortunately, we don’t have to buy into that reality. We have access to books, teachers, friends and mentors who can inspire us to be an avid dreamer! Please be encouraged to relax and have fun -- literally start dreaming! Anything is possible in your dreams! If you become what you think about, then thinking is creating. Imagine! To achieve your Biggest Dreams & Goals you will need to become the person who can do the activities to create results! You may need to adjust your attitude, learn a new skill, get experience, become more educated or expand your circle of influence. If you want to achieve something bigger you must LEARN & GROW!
Feed your mind! You want to think differently, then you need to give your mind the nutritional value it needs to grow! I use my "unproductive time" - driving, working out, household chores, etc. as an opportunity to learn. I listen to CD's, podcast, etc. Try it - you will be amazed at how many good books you can LISTEN to! What's in your CD changer right now? What's loaded on your iPod or mobile phone? What do you listen to when you workout, walk the dog(s), garden, travel or work around the house? Action for Today: What is the most important skill you need to develop in order to achieve your most important goal? Is it time management, leadership, persuasive communication, presentation skills, emotional intelligence, or consistency and discipline? Decide today and then go buy a book or a CD program dedicated to that skill. What Are You Looking For? There is luck, opportunity and good fortune around you all day, everyday. Why aren't you seeing it? Here is why you may be missing it: Action for Today: Ask yourself... What am I focusing on? What am I looking for? What do I wish to see in life?... Success? Happiness? Fitness? A new opportunity? A soul-mate? Write down a few things you want to find so you can program your eyes to be on the lookout. Remember, don't just think it, do it. Write it down. To have what you've never had, you must do what you've never done! Shelly The other day I was meeting with a friend for a coffee. We hadn't seen each other for a bit so we were catching up on our lives, business, kids, etc. We are friends so at first it didn't bother me (much) when she took a call, then responded to a text and kept glancing down at her phone. I realize we are all busy and fabulous multi-taskers, but the encounter with my friend left me feeling a little insecure and hurt.
Can we really listen and communicate effectively when distracted by our devices? I walked away from that coffee feeling not very valued and wondering if I've ever indadvertedly done the same to someone else? I can't help but wonder, with the demands of & priority we place on technology - What are we missing when we don't focus, even for a few moments, on the live, warm bodies in front of us? I tried not to, but I really did take it personally when my friend felt that her calls & texts were more important and couldn't wait until after our time together.... I'm really thankful for that experience. Like the quote above states - there is always a reason why we meet people... She changed my life that day. I've decided to make a more conscientious effort to BE HERE NOW - focus on the two eyes sitting across from me. I've already noticed a difference in my encounters with my kids, in business meetings, & when on a date! My challenge to you, focus on whats in front of you - Be Here Now! You will make a difference in that person's life! Happy New Year! Shelly RIP my dear sweet Grandmother, Dortha Wilson and my Dad, Dennis Pryor. You will be thought of often & loved forever.
